Long ago in a peaceful Japanese village, an elderly couple lived a simple life. Every morning, the old man would head to the mountains to gather firewood while his wife went to the river to wash clothes. One bright morning, as the woman scrubbed her linens near the water’s edge, she noticed something extraordinary floating downstream. It was a peach of impossible size, bobbing gently toward her. The fruit was as large as a barrel and glowed with a soft, healthy luster that caught the sunlight. She had never seen such a magnificent sight in all her years. She reached out with her wooden paddle, pulling the heavy fruit toward the bank, her heart racing with curiosity. She knew immediately that this was no ordinary gift from nature. With a gentle push, she guided the giant peach safely onto the grass, wondering what mystery lay hidden deep inside its sweet, velvet skin.
